Most homeowners only file an insurance claim once or twice in their lives. Insurance companies do this every day. That can put you at a disadvantage. We help even the playing field.

We have worked with adjusters from every major carrier across Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota. We know what they need. We know what they push back on. We make the process simple.

After experiencing considerable damage from a storm to my home I worked with Millie who made the process of starting an insurance claim and having my roof replaced a straight forward process. What To Do Right After a Storm

A few simple actions can protect your home and your claim. Do these before you do anything else.

01

Take photos right away. Even from the ground. The more you have, the better.

02

Save all damaged pieces. Shingles, gutters, anything that fell. Set them aside for the adjuster.

03

Do not let other contractors on your roof first. Some less honest contractors will damage things on purpose.

How Insurance Claims Actually Work

Working With Your Insurance Company on a Roof Claim

A roof insurance claim has a few clear steps. First, the damage happens, usually a hail or wind storm. You call your insurance company and open a claim. They send out an adjuster to look at the roof. The adjuster writes a report. The insurance company sends you a check based on that report. You hire a contractor to do the work. That is the whole process when it goes smoothly. When it does not, an underpaid claim can leave you covering thousands of dollars yourself.

Having a contractor present at the adjuster meeting changes a lot. We walk the roof together with the adjuster. We point out hail bruises, lifted shingles, and damaged flashing the adjuster might miss. We bring photos and measurements. Adjusters are fair people, but they are looking at hundreds of roofs a month. Two sets of trained eyes catch more than one. Most of our customers in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota see better claim outcomes when we are part of the meeting.

Claims get denied or underpaid for a few common reasons. The damage gets blamed on age or wear and tear instead of the storm. The roof is past warranty, so the carrier offers actual cash value instead of full replacement cost. With ACV, your payout is the depreciated value of the old roof. With RCV, your payout is what it costs to install a new one of similar quality. Most policies in the Midwest pay RCV but only after the work is done. We help you understand which one your policy uses.

One last warning. Out of state storm chasers will push you to file a fast claim and sign a contract on the spot. Do not. Get a real contractor with a local office, take the time to read your policy, and make a calm decision.

Common Questions

Things Homeowners Ask About Insurance Claims

Do I need a public adjuster?

Most homeowners do not. A public adjuster takes a percentage of your claim payout, usually 10 to 15 percent. A solid local contractor at the adjuster meeting often gets you the same result without the cut. We have handled hundreds of claims this way.

What if my claim gets denied?

You have the right to ask for a re-inspection. We can come back out, gather more documentation, and ask the carrier to send a different adjuster. Many denied claims get reversed when better evidence is presented. We help you push for that.

Will my deductible be the only out of pocket cost?

For most full coverage claims, yes. You pay your deductible, the insurance company pays for the rest of the approved work, and we bill the carrier directly. Upgrades you choose, like a premium shingle, may cost extra and we will tell you up front.

How long does a claim take?

From the first call to a finished roof, most storm claims in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota take four to eight weeks. The adjuster meeting happens within a week or two. Approval and payment take another two or three weeks. The install itself is usually one day.

Can you handle the claim for me?

We do everything except call your insurance company on your behalf. State law requires the homeowner to open the claim. After that, we handle the documentation, meet with the adjuster, manage the paperwork, and bill the carrier directly for the work.

Do you work with all insurance companies?

Yes. We have worked with State Farm, Allstate, American Family, Liberty Mutual, USAA, Progressive, and every other major carrier across the Midwest. We know how each company handles claims and what they look for.
